Ever wondered what you get when Canadian, Indian, French and Irish bloods amalgamate into one mortal being? What else but a lanky and a gorgeous sexy bombshell called Saira Mohan! But more than anything else this internationally famous beauty of Indo- European lineage is proud of her Indian ancestry and relishes to talk of the country to where her forefathers belonged.

Saira Mohan standing 5feet 10.5 inches in her socks was born in Montreal and brought up amidst the picturesque Canadian Rockies, in the city of Calgary, Canada. It may come as a surprise to many that she took up modelling at the tender age of thirteen, when she participated in a beauty contest in California. Her first modelling assignment was with Elle magazine, which was done at Bali in Indonesia.

After twelve long and hectic years in the beauty business she is still going great guns. Nowadays she is settled in the city of skyscrapers Manhattan, New York and married to David Cooper who works for the Cooper Fund Inc, Chicago. Here she dabbled in academics as well by studying films and sociology at the New York University. Saira has featured on the covers and centre spreads of magazines like Marie Claire, Mademoiselle, Glamour, Elle, GQ, Maxim, Stuff, Arena, Esquire, Scene, Amica, Vogue, Allure, She, Cosmopolitan and Town & Country. Besides, prestigious products she has vouched for in TV and print ads include Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Calvin Klein, Emmanuel Ungaro, Valentino and Victoria’s Secret, Mercedes 500SL, L’Oreal, Oil of Olay, and Neiman Marcus. Saira can boast of having been clicked by renowned photographers like Patrick Demarchelier, Albert Watson, Walter Chin and Dewey Nicks. Recently, she figured in a list of Maxim’s list of top 100 models of the world, a no mean achievement by any standards. Today when her stars are shining brightest, she has no qualms in openly declaring that she wallows in the glories of her achievements.

Saira Mohan’s versatile personality is not confined to the arena of beauty alone. She has proved her talent in brainy matters too. Like an astute businessman, Saira Mohan handles a stocks and securities company. She also values intellectual pursuits and avidly reads a lot of literature. No wonder she has slammed the keyboard to write an e- book named “How to Seduce (and Marry) the Woman of my Dreams.” The book commands a fairly good readership and considerable part of her time these days is spent in answering the fan mail she receives for her book. Besides she puts forth her creativity on the canvas in oil colours.

Although she stands at the peak of her career in the Western world, she looks eastwards to India for inspiration. Ancestors of her father, Harish Mohan belonged to Punjab and they had emigrated to Kenya during the colonial period. Saira Mohan is mesmerised by India’s great cultural mosaic and its rather peaceful ways of life. Philosophically she remarks, “Go to India and meet yourself”. She is fully acquainted with the social environment of India along with its intricacies and complex problems.

Yet she harps on the currently available opportunities for Indian boys and girls in their own land and exhorts them to make full use of them. Currently she is believed to be hobnobbing with Bollywood producers and directors to make foray into the Indian cinema. Should we see a, ‘The Return of the Native’ or a ‘Sun rising from the West on the Bollywood Horizon’?
